Two men from China have secured their place in a book of sadistic world records by standing encased in ice for two hours.
Chen Kecai, 52, and Jin Songhao, 54, wore nothing by swimming trunks when they stepped into two transparent boxes and had ice poured in so that it was up to their necks.
Sadly for Mr Chen he lasted a mere 118 minutes and will be a mere footnote in the recording of this feat as Mr Jin survived for another two minutes to take the record.
“I’m fine, I’m fine,” he said after being removed from the ice with a body that had turned bright red.
The previous record was held by a Dutch man, who is bizarrely the record holder for the quickest half marathon run on snow in barefoot, and stood at 115 minutes.
A reason for Mr Chen and Mr Jin’s ability is that they are from the frozen Chinese province of Heilongjiang, which borders Siberia.
