Of all the modes of transport you could be on when being faced by a leopard a bike is probably at the bottom of the wish list.
However, 32-year-old South African farm worker, Pieta Ncube, managed to use his bike to save his life after being pounced on by the big cat as he took his usual route home.
He managed to trap the big cat’s two front legs in his bike’s frame, so it couldn’t reach him with its teeth.
Mr Ncube eventually managed to pull a loose steel bar from his bicycle, smashing the leopard on the head as it clawed at his face and head.
The leopard fled the scene leaving Mr Ncube with the awkward task of explaining to his employer why he was going to be late.
